HYDERABAD: In the city, five burglaries a day is a normal occurrence.
In the first three quarters of this year alone, there were 1,300 burglaries reported and the robbers made away with a booty of Rs 12.5 crore.
But there is no need to panic about it, a senior police officer told The Times of India on Monday. According to him, five burglaries a day is a normal phenomenon in a city like Hyderabad.
About Rs 4.5 crore stolen property has been recovered so far this year and only 32 per cent of the cases detected, deputy commissioner of police
M Satyanarayana Reddy of the detective department said.

According to official statistics, until September this year 1,300 burglaries were reported and the thieves took away gold jewellery worth Rs 4.44 crore, Rs 2.06 crore in cash and other valuables worth Rs 5.82 crore.
“The burglars are used to committing thefts. They never change. We send them to jail but they walk free after serving jail terms and resume their activities, Reddy said.

For instance, one Manoj Kumar who was released from jail on Oct. 8 after serving a prison term, committed a burglary within two days. On October 10 he burgled a house at Chikkadpally and also took away a two-wheeler from the place. He was sleeping at Public Gardens when he was nabbed again on suspicion, the DCP said.
These burglars commit thefts and spend the booty lavishly. Police admit that it is not possible to keep a watch on all those who commit burglaries. Committing thefts, walkingin and out of jails are common for such people, a police officer said.
